It's been busy here at the Lampman household.
Last week me and Michael went to see Buffett in Camden. We made a mini vacation out of it. We stayed two nights at Casa de Chachi's. We had a good time at the concert and with Chach.
We ate at a restaurant called P.F. Chang's . Excellent Chinese food: honey shrimp, chicken lo mein and lettuce chicken wraps. My stomach's growling just thinking about it. We were waited on by a former fellow OG. How's that for a small world?
We went on a coal mine tour at McDade Park. It was a very informative tour that gave us insight to the conditions that our grandfather's and other family members delt with. Poor lighting, poisonous gases, cramped quarters (the spaces were so tight that they had to crawl), 30 tons of coal above their heads that can give at any time, mules that didn't want to pull carts and being the door boy (opening one door to another shaft. these boys were eight years old and if they fell asleep or weren't paying attention they could be killed by the coal carts weighing six tons). All to put food on the table for their families and provide shelter and clothing. Amazing.
We watched fire works last night from the Water Street bridge in Pittston. Along with the Nowak family. I was worried that Elisabeth wouldn't like them because of the loud bangs. But she really enjoyed them and marveled at the colors and shapes. She smiled the whole time. I think I watched her reaction more than the fireworks themselves. To be a child again where everything is new and wonderous.
Elisabeth and I made her birthday invitations. I mailed them out today. She is having a birthday luau. I bought her a grass skirt. I don't think she'll wear coconut bras. I bet her Chach will. I ordered her cake from the Cake Lady. This woman makes cakes that are decorated with such detail and creativity. Elisabeth wanted a Hello Kitty cake. I tried to talk her out of it. She wouldn't have it. So the Cake Lady said she could do hibiscus flowers on it and possibly give Hello Kitty a grass skirt and coconut bra. It was a compromise.
I returned clothes today, an extra booster seat, went shopping for t.p. and dishwasher soap and party decorations. I bought my sister-in-law her birthday present: a gift card to Bath and Body Works. It was a marathon day. I started some laundy and the dishwasher. It's going to be a relaxing night for me and Michael. Maybe a movie and some ice cream?
I hope all is well with you!!
