About me

  • I am thirty two years old, I live in Northeastern, Pa and I am married and have one soon to be five year old daughter. I love birthdays. Some people don't. But I think of birthdays as a celebration of you. I'm getting better. Not older. I am a very outgoing person. I like to make people laugh. I take things in stride, for the most part. I'm easy going. It takes a lot to push my buttons. I like to run (not fast), read, make things (I made my own wedding shower invitations using embossing powder), knit, give foot baths, put on mascara, use facial masks, clean my house, make drinks, research anything I will be purchasing and gardening. I would like to learn how to sew, can tomatos, sky dive, and anything else that catches my fancy. I'm OCD to a point. Either my house is completely spotless or I let it go for a little bit and there is dog hair on the floor and laundry is piled up. It's either all or nothing. I am a very loving and giving person. I treat my family and friends very well. I wear my heart on my sleave. I will trust someone until they give my a reason not to. I would like to have one more baby. I would like a boy. I would be happy to have a girl too. We have some factors involved and are going to be doing another IUI. This time with Clomid. I love music. Depeche Mode, U2, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Jimmy Buffet, Neil Diamond, The Rolling Stones, Dirty Vegas, Boston Pops, and The Cure. I would live in Boston. It's my favorite city. I did live there for a short time. It's clean, the people are great and there are tons of things to do. It is very easy to navigate, especially taking the T. I get Boston Magazine every month. It keeps me updated on Beantown. I can teach myself new things pretty easily. I can put together items (baby gadgets, kids toys, shoe racks, etc.) no problem. I get that from my Dad. I like sunny, warm days. No humidity though. I have natural curly hair. I knew I had a wave to my hair (which is funny. because growing up my hair was poker straight) but I never experimented with it. I went to Key West last year and a friend did my hair for me and I had spiral curls. I like my hair both curly and straight. I am a professional student. I've been in college since 1993. I have an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Art's in Humanities with a Minor in English. I am now going for my elementary education degree. If I could be anything in the world it would be a dog groomer first and a deaf education teacher second. I love animals. I have a cat Marnie (tiger cat, 18 yrs old), Magnus (English Springer Spaniel, 10 years old), Kona (German Shephard, 3 years old) and Logan (Golden Retreiver/Lab, 3 years old) If I won the lottery I would pay off my families bills and donate money to the Hillside SPCA. (All my pets came from the SPCA except Magnus. He came from Montreal Canada) I love monogramming. I have polo shirts, Vera Bradley bags and jewelry with my initials (SJL). I think it adds a personal touch and it makes me feel special. I used to see people with their initials on their clothes or whatnot and I would think one day I, too, will have my initials on my things. That's a short clip about me. I'll be sure to add more things and keep it updated. Thank you for visiting me! Susan

How will Santa know?

I went to Elisabeth's school to get her homework and art projects.  Her teacher put oatmeal and glitter in a bag and called it Magic Reindeer Food.  You sprinkle it on your lawn to let Santa know there's a kid in your house.  Guess who thinks he's a reindeer?

I have to make more.  Elisabeth would be devastated to know Logan ate the reindeer food.

Celebrate!!!

It's my birthday!!  I've always said it should be celebrated far and wide.  My husband jokes that it should be a national holiday and I tell him that's a great idea!!  I worked today with my one client. I have the afternoon off.  I'll be relaxing.  We are going out to dinner but I don't know where. I just want to spend time with my family.

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday to my best friend Magnus!! He is 10 yrs old today.  I can't believe it. It seems like yesterday my Mom and Dad brought him home.  He was so little he needed help up the front steps.  Magnus was a well fed puppy--his belly was so big that when he went to scratch his ear he couldn't reach it.

Happy Birthday Magnus!!  Thank you for being my best friend!!
Love,
Susan

Bugs

I'm sick.  We call it having the bug in my family.  I knew my schedule was going to be crazy with my two jobs, three classes, an internship and helping Elisabeth with her school and keeping up with the house (kinda) would be a lot but I didn't think it would hit this soon.

Growing up

This sign is front of my best friends' cottage. Her parents have a cottage and every year we would spend our summer's there. Everyone's cottage looks the same at this campground (it has a bunch of cottages, a meeting house, hiking trails, and a dirt road you drive/ride bikes on, a pond and an outside church). It's a place where you can have coffee with the neighbors, go to a corn roast and go swimming in the pond. We had a blast growing up there. We would leave after breakfast and go swimming or riding our bikes. We did break for lunch and dinner but other than that her parents hardly saw us. We grew very close to each other and learned about ourselves. Our summers grew from playing in the sand to checking out the boys staying in the campground. I'm so glad she has a cottage now that we can escape to. It's like recapturing a little bit of my youth.

Chachi making breakfast. Hi Chachi!! She makes the best chocolate chip pancakes.

Chachi's cottage at night. It reminds me of Key West.

Chachi painting clay pots brown so she wouldn't have to wash them. There are always craft projects going on at the campground.
This is Chachi making M.ojitos. The campground is "dry" but you would never know it at Chachi's cottage. Yum!!

Dress is very relaxed at the campground as you see Chachi demonstrating here. This outfit is campground casual.

This is me picking corn out of my teeth. We had gotten fresh corn from a farm nearby. After this I got some floss from Chachi's Dad. The corn was called "candy corn" and it was very sweet.
This is Chachi's Mom and Dad. We used to wear them out when we were little. Napping is done at the campground. In fact, it's encouraged!!

September 11

Back on that fateful morning seven years ago many men and women lost their lives.  Please let us give a moment of silence.  You are forever in our hearts and prayers.

Anniversary

My second wedding anniversary is today!! I married Michael on September 2, 2006. It was an amazing day because I got to marry my soul mate. I truly believe in kismet. We were married in a courthouse which was really beautiful. Our vows were written by Michael and were perfect. Elisabeth was our flower girl. The reception was just down the street from my grandparent's house and I've ridden my bike past it hundreds of times. We had the New York Times band who knew a lot of Buffett. A good time was had by all.

I can't believe it

We went for orientation today at Elisabeth's school.  We went over all the information in our folders (classroom rules, who can pick up your child, etc.) and got to meet her teacher and principal.  I can not believe that she starts Kindergarten tomorrow.  I'm going to be a mess.  I was crying today.  I stopped before she could see me.  I can't believe she is five and going to school for a whole day.  I won't see her until 3pm.  She seems to little to go be going to school.
I must remember to pack my box of tissues.

Didn't she just get here?
